Tent camping is a great alternative to the usual holiday experiences where you get to stay in nice hotels and go on set day tours. To enjoy tent camping, there are some general guidelines that you should take into consideration. If you can manage to follow these basic tent camping standards, you will have the best time ever, and will fall in love with the great outdoors and all it has to offer.

First, make sure you plan your trip properly. If you want a quiet weekend getaway, then make sure you don't go on a holiday weekend. On the other hand, if the party atmosphere like campsite is just what you are looking for, then schedule your tent camping on popular holidays like Fourth of July or any other similar holiday.

Second, pack light. Most campsites have a store although the items there might be priced higher than in your local grocery. Still, bring more recyclables than disposables. In fact, if you plan every meal well, you can bring a little over what you need, and not have to worry about space or extra guests for dinner. You can also pre-pack each meal and the ingredients you will need to organize your cooking and save more time for enjoying the outdoors.

Third, make sure to arrive at the campsite early especially if it is a holiday weekend. This will allow you time to settle in properly before night fall. You might also be able to avoid the last minute rush which can be stressful and ruin a perfectly good travel day.

Fourth, bring insect repellants and lids for your drinking cups. You should also have an extra mat to place in front of your tent to keep the dirt from going into your tent.

Fifth, have extra poles for your tent, in case of accidents. You will be thankful to have these around since you might not have an easy time finding poles in the middle of a campsite.

Sixth, respect your neighbors, and you can expect them to respect you as well. Avoid playing loud music, being too nosy, or meddling in others' business.

Finally, check all your camping gear before you leave on your trip. If you can, set up the tent. If you bought an economy sleeping bag, make sure that there aren't any issues with it and get indoor lighting for your tent. This way, you get to see what the possible problems may be even before leaving home.

Mountain Biking Must Haves

6. Repair kit - When on the trail, the last thing you want is gear malfunction. But this is an unavoidable circumstance, so make sure you have your pump, multi-tools, and other bike repair essentials with you.

The Basic Bowling Terms

Knowing how to bowl does not simply depend on practicing how to roll the bowling ball down the lane. As a well-back grounded bowler, it is good to know some (if not most) of the basic bowling terms. When beginner bowlers decide to skip this step, many aspects of the game may look confusing to them. It is true that you might acquire many more terms when you actually practice the game, however not knowing what a spare or a foul line is on your first game can be a grave gap.

There are tens if not hundreds of bowling terms out there. So how do you choose which one to learn first and which one to leave for later? The words that you need to first concentrate on are the ones related to the basic equipment and to basic scoring. While many people know what a bowling lane, bowling bowl and strike is some are not aware that a strike can only be done on the bowler's first ball. Hence if you knock down all the pins on your second ball, that would not be called a strike but a spare.

After you warm up, hold your bowling ball with your fingers and approach the lane. You need to know that the line at which you need to stop is called the foul line which can cause you to be disqualified - if you crossed it. After you do throw the ball as a first timer and if the ball goes off course, it will fall into the side "gutter" and that would be called a gutter ball.

To bowl, you need to understand the terminologies used in bowling techniques. For example, straight bowling is the bowling technique also referred to as point and shoot bowling which most if not all beginners resort to when they learn how to bowl. On the other hand, pro bowlers throw hook balls when they throw the bowling ball in a straight lane until it reaches a point where it curves and hooks back to knock down all the ten pins. Hook ball bowling is one of the most popular bowling techniques and hook ball bowling needs a lot of effort from the bowler because the bowler needs to use the proper grip and make the proper swing as he releases. Top-spin bowling is another terminology referring to one of the hard available bowling techniques through which the bowler is supposed to place his right arm right above the head level and have his wrist bent.

Other common bowling terminologies which we still have not discussed are: frame (which is one tenth part of a game), box (also referred to a single frame on the scoring card), dead ball (a ball not counter, like a gutter ball or a foul ball), double (two consecutive strikes), mark (a strike or spare), string (several strikes in a row), and turkey (specifically three strikes in a row).

Finally, you need to keep in mind that just like many other sports, bowling has a lot of slang bowling terms which can be directly caught off the bowling game one of which is apple (referring to the bowling ball). So, knowing how to bowl is not just about rolling the bowling ball down the alley, but also about being familiar with basic bowling terms.

Regardless of how bad the economy is, we all still need to kick back and relax once in a while. Let's talk about one of the cheapest types of vacation you can take: a camping trip. Looking for the island?

For those backpackers outside there no matter from malaysian or not that maybe in looking for some good places for their holiday or have a reunion, here I have one place to share with you. I don't know whether you like it or not but you can try to take a look their packages.

Actually my fellow friends had a plan to have a holiday at the island and enjoys all the moments together. Our plan is whether want to go to Redang Island, Perhentian Island, or Pangkor Island. Then we start googling in order to find the cheapest prices and at the same time also include many packages. What You Should Bring When Camping

Camping is a fun activity for all ages. Families and friends travel to national parks year round to experience the beauty of nature. Before you can experience the joys of Mother Nature you must be prepared to bring supplies.

Food is a given for people who would like to eat outdoors. Food can also be hunted or fished but requires talent with a fishing rod or a gun. The Way to Become a Better Speed Boat Driver

Generosity is contagious. This is a maxim that often times loses its meaning on commonplace encounter with various people but in some manner finds its essence on waters. If you have done some hours boating out in the sea, you understand what I mean. If you're new to boating, you will be amazed how boaters treat other boaters as compared to drivers on freeway or even around your neighborhood.

Boaters are more polite, giving, courteous and even helpful to other boaters. Correct etiquette is always seasoned. And although many boaters didn't take any boating safety course, they are mindful of the things to do and the means to act on every situation.

Common sense - the unwritten rule on boating and a need to have if you wish to survive on waters. Should there be an enquiry of right-of-way, frequent sense will always tell you to give it to the other guy in spite of who is privileged and who is weighed. In boating, everybody seems to know this and for some good reasons, everyone seems to consciously employ everyday sense and settle to others.

I am in a position to relate this to a story I have listened to not so earlier. Two guys were casually boating holding their way at 4 miles per hour. A large cruiser was coming to their rear. Logically, the large cruiser, since it was the weighted down, had to yield while the casual boaters can hold their line because they were privileged. Still, everyday sense prevailed to the privileged ones, realizing that they can grow into trouble and yielded for the large boat.

This is not an isolated incident. Most boaters are more inclined on employing their common sense than enforcing the principle of who's the privileged and who's the weighed. And this is something you always wish to bring when going out on the waters. This is not the rule but it is always best to drop and let the other guys pass, despite who has the right-of-way.

Each time I set to the waters, I always observe this variety of behavior is a collective manner. Everyone seems to sink to others - not because they know the rules but more because they are inclined to treat boaters as neighbors on identical water. Moreover, there is always that help-your neighbor policy that rules everyone. Actually, this is a legal rule but boaters who are unconscious that this is a rule tend to apply it each time or a minimum of when they are on the waters.

This seems sensible because if you require assistance, you need someone to finish and render you some help. But boaters do this not because they treat others as a means (helping others just because they expect others to aid them) but as an ends (simply helping because it is the proper thing to do).

To be honest, seeing boaters helping one other boater to tow his boat to the shore or fix a boat, occasionally for several hours, can drive me crazy in a good way. If I anchored several hundred yards faraway from the chief pack, it will only be just a matter of time when someone will approach me to ask if everything is okay or yell from the distance "Out of gas?" or "Need some help?"

General rules are good but they are more useful when legal disputes are required. On waters, always play defensive to avoid collisions, create harmony with other boaters, and always be ready to give others help.

Improve Your Cycling by Improving Recovery

As recovery is key to athletic progress, put as much effort into recovery as you do your training rides. Little changes can get you ready for your next ride or race faster. Being able to go fast is all about how well you recover from your training. I've compiled a list of tips to help improve your recovery ability and speed your progress.


Strive for 8 hours of sleep per night. If you train like an athlete you have to rest like one. If you have the chance to take a nap on hard training days, do it. Your body rebuilds better when you are asleep.
Use a recovery drink right after training. The mix of Carbs and Protein are absorbed quickly to help repair the muscles and speed recovery. There is a one hour window after training that the body is primed to absorb nutrients so use it. If you delay feeding your muscles it can take up to 48 hours to replenish them. 80 grams of simple carbs and 20 grams of high quality whey protein is the ideal recipe to speed recovery. Chocolate milk has also been shown to work as well as higher priced recovery drinks.
After hard workouts and on rest days, go for a super easy 20 minute ride to get the blood flowing in your legs and clear the waste products created during your workout.
Alternate days of hard rides with more moderate aerobic rides.
Stretch after every workout. Yoga works better than static stretching so give it a shot.
Take hot baths and get massages to keep the muscles loose and speed the clearing of waste products built up during workouts. Even if you can't afford a trip to the massage therapist, take a rolling pin and use it on all the muscles of your legs. Very effective and very cheap.
Focus on eating quality carbs, fats and protein with lots of vegetables.
Make every fourth week a recovery week by reducing your workload by 20%. Take a week off completely every 3 months. You'll come back stronger when your body has a chance to recover completely.
If you feel rundown or stressed out, don't be afraid to take a day off. Your body doesn't know whether the stress is from work or training and needs time to repair.
Follow these guidelines and you'll see faster progress. Remember, Training = Work + Recovery.
